Present Tense Rules
Present Indefinite:
Affirmative:
SUB+DO/DOES+V1+OBJ
Example:
I do go to Kolkata.
You do like mangoes.
He does like mangoes./He likes mangoes.
Note: In case of universal truth and habitual activities
Negative:
SUB+DO/DOES+NOT+V1+OBJ
Example:
I do not go to Kolkata.
You do not like mangoes.
He does not like mangoes.
Note: Use does in case of 3rd person singular number of noun/pronoun (He/she/it/this/that).
Other cases do is proffered (I/we/you/they/those/these).
Present Continuous:
Affirmative:
SUB+AM/IS/ARE+ING+OBJ
Example:
I am eating rice.
You are seeing a bird.
He is playing cricket.
Note: When the work is going on.
Negative:
SUB+AM/IS/ARE+ NOT+ING+ OBJ
Example:
I am not eating rice.
You are not seeing a bird.
He is not playing cricket.
Note:
How to use AM/IS/ARE
AM= With I only.
IS= With only 3rd person singular numbers.
ARE= with remaining cases.
Present Perfect:
Affirmative:
SUB+HAS/HAVE+V3+OBJ
Example:
I have eaten rice.
You have seen a tiger.
He has bought a pen.
Note:
When the work has just been completed.
Negative:
SUB+HAS/HAVE+NOT+V3+OBJ
Example:
I have not eaten rice.
You have not seen a tiger.
He has not bought a pen.
Note:
How to use HAS/HAVE
HAS = with 3rd person singular number only.
HAVE = remaining cases.
Present Perfect Continuous:
Affirmative:
SUB+HAS/HAVE+BEEN+ING+OBJ+FOR/SINCE
Example:
I have been waiting for you for a long time.
They have been living here since 1986.
She has been doing this job since 2006.
Note:
When the work has been going on for a long period. May be many hours/many days/many weeks/many months/many years.
Negative:
SUB+HAS/HAVE+NOT+BEEN+ING+OBJ+FOR/SINCE
Example:
I have not been waiting for you for a long time.
They have not been living here since 1986.
She has not been doing this job since 2006.
Note:
How to use For/Since
For = Space of time.
Since =Gape of time.
