Rules of Passive Form (Past Tense)

Passive Form Rules (Past Tense)

Past Indefinite:


Affirmative:
OBJ+WAS/WERE+V3

Example:
I was told this.
They were given the pen.
He/she was asked to go.

How to use WAS/WERE:
WAS = Singular Number.
WERE = Plural Number.

Negative:
OBJ+WAS/WERE+NOT+V3

Example:
I was not told this.
They were not given the pen.
He/she was not asked to go.

Past Continuous:


Affirmative:
OBJ+WAS/WERE+BEING+V3

Example:
I was being given an award.
Mangoes were being liked by you.
Mangoes were being liked by him.

How to use WAS/WERE:
WAS = Singular Number.
WERE = Plural Number.

Negative:
OBJ+WAS/WERE+NOT+BEING+V3

Example:
I was not being punished.
Mangoes were not being liked by you.
Mangoes were not being liked by him.


PASSIVE IS NOT REQUIRED FOR PAST PERFECT AND PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE.
